Italia, pt. V

Where did I leave off?  Over a month later, & I'm still trying to crank these out!  The next folder of photos from Italy is named "Sinalunga & Lucignano", so let's move forward on the assumption that those are from...

DAY 8

Sinalunga is a wonderfully quaint little town not far from where we stayed in Tuscany, another 5 minutes down the road from Torrita di Siena.  What I enjoyed so much about Sinalunga was the apparent lack of anything seeming to cater to tourists.

For a few moments, it was possible to feel like maybe we were the only non-Italians around, which is pretty special in a place like Tuscany, which often feels overrun with English, Americans, & so many others.  We stopped in Sinalunga for breakfast (coffee & cornetto) a few times over the course of our week.

Lucignano, much like Sinalunga, seems to get away with a much smaller profile on the tourist radar.  I found myself here a couple of times during our stay, because the Mooring ladies are faithful patrons of a pizzeria in town. It's a picturesque place.

We were in Lucignano just after dusk, so many of the pictures didn't work out as I'd hoped.  One or two were all right, though.

Yet another church.

A few more shots from around town.

Your friendly, neighborhood communist party bulletin.

The ubiquitous Medici coat of arms.
