Devon, pt. II

On the morning of our second day in Devon, the weather had taken a turn for the worse, so we packed into the car & drove to the nearby town of Salcombe.

I can imagine that Salcombe's very pretty under the right circumstances.  Viewed from beneath a hood & umbrella, though, some of the luster was lost.

We eventually took shelter in the pub.

After lunching on crab sandwiches (delicious), we trekked back to the car.

Fi loves the cold & rain.  So much.

On our way back to the house, we diverted to the South Devon Chilli Farm, where we stocked up on some dried chiles, so I could make Tex-Mex later in the week.  Most of the chiles were imported, but they did have some good stuff.

That afternoon, another friend called Anya arrived, & the sun began to break through the clouds (ever so slightly), so we ambled back down to the beach for another stomp around.

From the beach, we followed a path along the coastal cliffs.

I found a narrow trail leading to a nice, little outcropping.  After urge upon urge for me to be careful, Fi agreed to take pix from the cliffs.

Anya, waiting for us on a bench looking out toward Burgh Island.

& that's day two.  More to come after the break.
